API Integration

API integration connects different software systems by allowing them to exchange data and trigger actions automatically through standardised programming interfaces.

An API (Application Programming Interface) is a set of rules that allows one software system to communicate with another. API integration connects your workflow automation platform with other tools in your technology stack — CRM systems, accounting software, email platforms, document storage, and more.

In practice, API integration means data flows automatically between systems without manual re-entry. When a case is created in your workflow platform, it can simultaneously update your CRM, create a record in your accounting system, and trigger a notification in your communication tool.

There are two main types of API integration in workflow automation: inbound (external systems pushing data into your platform, such as a web form submission creating a case) and outbound (your platform sending data to external systems, such as updating a policy management system when a claim is settled).

SwiftCase provides a comprehensive API and webhook system that enables bi-directional integration with virtually any modern software platform. Common integrations include Microsoft 365, Xero, DocuSign, and industry-specific systems like broker management platforms and policy administration systems.
